ASIC Development Test Platform -- TB-7V-2000T-LSI

Tokyo Electron Device Limited (TED) has today announced the release of the TB-7V-2000T-LSI ASIC development test platform featuring a Xilinx Virtex®-7 FPGA.

Released under TED's inrevium* brand, the TB-7V-2000T-LSI is intended for development of large SoCs and incorporates a Virtex-7 2000T FPGA, the world’s largest FPGA with performance features that include high-speed internal logic and high-bandwidth interfaces. This makes it possible to perform emulation and prototyping of large SoCs using a single FPGA instead of the multiple chips required in the past. Whereas operating speed can be a problem when using multiple chips for emulation, use of a single FPGA allows faster processing, and it also improves development efficiency by shortening the time required for implementation when a design is split into multiple parts.
With high-speed memory (DDR3 SDRAM 1600 Mbps) and a range of high-speed interfaces included as standard features (including USB 2.0/3.0, DVI input and output, and PCI Express), the new TB-7V-2000T-LSI is an ideal test platform for a wide range of different ASIC developments, including SoCs for next-generation image processing, audio/video multimedia, and high-speed communication control.
Equipped with five high-speed I/O connectors and a Kintex™-7 325T expansion FPGA that allow the addition of daughter interface cards, control logic, and other additional functions as needed, the TB-7V-2000T-LSI can be used to configure a prototyping platform with excellent expandability and enhanced flexibility. When used in conjunction with the reference designs provided for the USB and PCI Express interfaces, emulation can include high-speed external control of the SoC logic. It is also possible to perform testing under actual operating conditions at faster clock frequencies than in the past.
TED is currently developing an extension microcontroller card fitted with a Zynq™-7000 All Programmable SoC. Connecting this card to the TB-7V-2000T-LSI, it will become possible to perform total emulation of SoCs that incorporate ARM® processors, and this allows end product debugging environments to be configured that include software. Among the benefits are a significant reduction in the work required for hardware and software development and more comprehensive design.
