Atlantik Elektronik presents innovative entry-level high-brightness (HB) MAGIC LEDs with which Plessey Semiconductors Ltd. is now entering the LED market.
In their own fab in Plymoth, England, Plessey produces their LEDs using a 6-inch GaN silicon process technology. This enables a so far unmatched 95% yield in production. Together with a rapid manufacturing process a significant cost advantage compared to sapphire and silicon-based solutions for LEDs of a similar quality can be achieved.
The first entry-level LEDs (e.g. PLW111010, 3.6V-3.8V, 560-700 mcd) are aimed at applications such as state-level indicators and lighting of entertainment products such as televisions and xBoxes. More mid (PLx11x0500/85) and high-end performance (PLW11x125/500) LEDs with target markets such as interior lighting in vehicles, road or wall lighting will follow shortly.
First samples of Plessey's gallium nitride (GaN) High Brightness LEDs on silicon PLW111010 are now available at Atlantik Elektronik.
With Plessey Semiconductors entering the LED market customers active in the lighting segment can now benefit from Atlantik Elektronik's light control solutions tailored for combinations with these LEDs.The integration of light sources is becoming increasingly important. With the developed concept of Atlantik called "RANGER", light elements and sensors can be controlled.
The latest Bluetooth 4.0 standard, which includes BT Low Energy, is one example of a technology used for control here. Each network participant includes an integrated BT Low Energy wireless node. Contemporary commercially available smartphones and tablet PCs which increasingly feature BT Low Energy (also called Bluetooth Smart) can be easily extended with apps enabling the control of light profiles. The main features are the easy usage, secure communications as well as the use of standard operating and control elements.
With its OEM-APP for Android or iOS operating systems Atlantik Elektronik offers extra comfort and a contemporary way of light control management solutions, boosting customers to shorten their time to market. |
